love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail
“[love is more thicker than forget]” — E. E. Cummings
The light blue sky is now light pink. Hearts
float amongst the rain. Sweet-smelling lavender
weaves in and out of the thin air and clings on the dust particles
that ebb and flow around the living organisms. Sunflowers
dance in the field. Trees sway in the light breeze
that smells like freshly baked sweet bread.
People say when you’re in love, you’re on a high
you don’t know how to come down from.
Others have said that love is more thicker than forgetting.
Like a bus full of people when it comes to an abrupt stop,
love brings you closer. Love is a flock of birds flying together
from east to west, trying to find food. Love
is like when you dance on the beach—the sun sets
with orange and purple hues in the background.
Love is when you don’t notice the time on the living room clock as you pace
around your house with a smile, your phone on speaker
like you’re in secondary school again. Love’s also more thinner than recall.
It’s the sun dancing in France
while you lie on your bed and stare at your ceiling
at 11:05 p.m. in Vancouver. You smile
and close your eyes—a pink thought bubble
forms above your head. When you met him at work,
the rain fell, and the tangy smell of smoke littered the skies. The wind
blew through your hair. Cars zoomed down the street.
The rain continued to beat onto the predominantly
window building as a smile reached his hazel eyes.
People say that love is more seldom than a wave is wet
like supermoons. People stand, hold up their phones,
and capture the sliver of redness that casts on the Earth. He’s the moon
that glimmers at night and sparkles in the day.
When he waltzed into the dealership with his wet,
chocolate-coloured hair and matching eyes, he lit up
when those soft eyes landed on yours like he knew
you would be the light pink light of his life. When your brown eyes
looked back at his, you knew that love is more frequent than to fail.
