About “Would I Lie To You?”
- What was your motivation for writing “Would I Lie To You?”
My motivation was to show that love doesn’t have set boundaries, and memories can hurt.
I wanted to show resilience in different settings.

“She removed her rosetinted spectacles and acknowledged that loving a memory can be painful.”
- What do you want people to walk away with after reading “Would I Lie To You?”?
That life goes on regardless.

I wrote this whilst cooking tea following a writing group prompt.

- What are you currently reading?
Currently, KIN edited by Raine Geohegan, poetry written by Romani and Traveller women. Built from Broken by Lisa Connelly

I like most books.

I like Jess Smith, Romani Poet, and Lisa Connelly.
- Do you gravitate towards reading genres outside the ones you write?
I read any genre and write in different genres.
Writing
- Why do you write?
I love to see words form into a picture. I find writing therapeutic. I am distracted and immersed in my thoughts and oblivious of outside influences.
- What do you love about being a writer?
I like to create a poem or story that will stay with the person that is reading/ hearing for a little while.
- What time of the day do you write, and do you have a writing routine?
I usually write in the afternoon.
- Where do you get your ideas from?
Ideas or focus words just drift into my head.
- How long does it take you to write your projects?
Not long… about 15 minutes. I just pick up the pen and write.
- What advice would you give to other authors/writers/poets?
Like-minded people will give you confidence.
- What project(s) are you currently working on?
I am currently the lead for delivering Recipes for Resilience workshops funded by Arts Council England at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
The project brings together resilience, positive psychology, creative writing, and community cohesion. I also promote an awareness of gender based violence at spoken word gatherings.
